Booking Terms and Conditions

Please read our bookings terms and conditions carefully before making a booking.

Course Booking Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all training courses (“Courses”) provided by Construction Skills College Limited (trading as Trade Teacher). By booking a Course (online, by phone, email, or in person), you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Business Details

2. Course Costs

  • All prices displayed include VAT unless stated otherwise.
  • Prices may change prior to booking confirmation.
  • Confirmed bookings will not be affected by price changes.

3. Booking a Course

  • Bookings may be made online, by phone, email, or in person.
  • A contract is formed only when we confirm acceptance in writing.
  • We reserve the right to refuse or cancel bookings.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Deposits

  • A £150 deposit per trade/course is required unless otherwise agreed.
  • The deposit secures your Course place.
  • Deposits are non-refundable except where we cancel the Course or where required by law.

4.2 Balance Payments

  • The remaining balance must be paid no later than 4 weeks (28 days) before the Course start date.
  • If payment is not received, we will contact you.
  • We may (at our discretion) defer or move the Course date.

4.3 Non-Payment

We reserve the right to refuse Course entry, cancel bookings, withhold certification, and recover outstanding fees.

5. Employer / Company Bookings

  • The employer/sponsor is responsible for payment unless agreed otherwise.
  • Payment must be made before the Learner starts unless alternative terms are agreed in writing.
  • We may refuse entry or withhold certificates if payment is outstanding.

6. Transfers & Trade Changes

  • Transfers permitted before Course start only.
  • No transfers once a Course has commenced.
  • Trade changes require minimum 4 weeks’ notice.
  • No admin fee where sufficient notice is provided.

7. Attendance & Participation

  • Full attendance is required.
  • Missed sessions may prevent completion/certification.
  • Courses cannot normally be paused/resumed later.

8. Health, Safety & Fitness to Participate

Courses may involve practical, physical, and hands-on activities including manual handling and use of tools/equipment. By attending a Course, you confirm that you are medically fit to participate safely. Learners must be able to participate safely and follow all tutor safety instructions. We reserve the right to refuse admission, pause training, or remove a Learner where participation presents a safety risk.

We welcome Learners with disabilities and health conditions and will consider reasonable adjustments in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. Learners must inform us at booking (or as soon as reasonably practicable) of any disability, medical condition, injury, or support requirement. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in:

  • refusal or deferral of attendance;
  • removal from training;
  • withheld assessment or certification.

Where participation presents a significant health and safety risk that cannot reasonably be mitigated, we may refuse attendance.

9. Learner Conduct

  • Learners must behave respectfully and follow instructions.
  • Misconduct or safety breaches may result in removal.
  • No refund will be issued where removal occurs.

10. English Language Requirement

Due to the safety-critical and practical nature of our Courses, Learners must have a good understanding of written and spoken English sufficient to:

  • follow health and safety instructions;
  • participate effectively in training;
  • communicate with tutors and staff;
  • complete assessments conducted in English.

Where a Learner’s level of English prevents safe participation or completion of assessment requirements, we reserve the right to refuse admission, defer training, or withhold assessment/certification.

11. Assessments & Certification

  • Certification subject to attendance and competence.
  • Failed assessments may require additional training/resit fees.
  • We may withhold certification where standards are not met.
  • We are not responsible for awarding organisation decisions/delays.

12. Cancellations by You

Bookings made online/at a distance are subject to the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. For Courses provided on specific dates, cooling-off rights may not apply.

  • More than 35 days before start: deposit retained.
  • 26–35 days before start: deposit retained.
  • Less than 26 days before start: 100% of Course fee payable.

13. Cancellation / Changes by Us

  • We may amend or cancel Courses.
  • Where cancelled, alternative dates, credit, or refund offered.
  • Liability limited to Course fees paid.

14. Absences

No refunds for non-attendance or partial attendance.

15. Tools, Equipment & Materials

  • We provide required training equipment/materials unless stated otherwise.
  • Learners must use equipment safely.
  • Damage due to misuse may be charged.

16. Intellectual Property

All Course materials remain our intellectual property.

17. Liability

Nothing excludes liability where unlawful. Otherwise liability limited to Course fees paid.

18. Data Protection

Personal data processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

19. Governing Law

England and Wales.
