Are you looking to learn tiling and gain the confidence to take on real projects? Our 9-day intensive tiling course is designed to give you both the hands-on skills and theoretical knowledge you need to tile walls and floors like a professional.
Throughout the course, you’ll work on real-world tasks that prepare you for kitchens, bathrooms, and more. Below, you’ll find an overview of what you’ll learn during your training.
Learning tiling isn’t just about theory — it’s about practice. On our course, you’ll spend plenty of time fixing, cutting, and grouting different sized tiles across larger areas so that you leave not just with knowledge, but with real tiling skills and confidence to enable you to work and earn money as a tiler.
We focus on the techniques you’ll actually use on jobs, from setting out walls and floors to working around tricky areas like windows, pipes, sockets, and internal and external corners. By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills to complete tiling projects such as bathroom and kitchen tiling on your own or even start offering tiling services professionally.
During the course, you’ll complete a wide variety of practical tiling exercises designed to reflect real-world challenges.
You will fix 150mm x 150mm tiles, cutting each tile around the perimeter, and fitting tile trim to the top row (Day 1 task).
You will grout the 150mm x 150mm tiles you have fixed.
You will cut and fix 600mm x 300mm tiles around and inside a window opening, including reveals, sills, and soffits, plus fitting tile trim all around the window opening.
You will practice partial-height tiling inside and around a window opening, commonly used in kitchens or bathrooms where walls are only part-tiled.
You will fix tiles sized 200mm x 100mm in a brick-wall pattern, a popular kitchen and bathroom feature-wall style.
You will fix a mosaic border using mesh-backed sheets and mosaic tiles (still a useful skill even if less common today).
You will practice tiling with 150mm x 150mm tiles, incorporating a diamond inlay for a tile-cutting exercise.
You will complete a larger project fixing 600mm x 300mm tiles across two walls (approx. 5m²), including many obstacles including an internal corner, a window opening, copper pipes, a simulated bath edge, and a door opening — developing your setting-out and cutting skills around real-world obstacles. You will use laser levels to set out.
Using a tile levelling system when fixing wall and floor tiles.
You will set out and fix floor tiles, cutting around a pipe, and ensuring accuracy with levelling systems.
You will use a laser level during tiling exercises.
You will grout wall and floor tiles, including using a washboy on floors.
You will apply silicone to internal wall corners and finish neatly with a silicone tool.
You will gain experience with dry rail cutters, wet cutters, and a variety of hand tools.
Alongside the practical work, you’ll cover key theory topics to prepare you for real projects, including:
How to set out walls in bathrooms, taking into account windows, niche, bath, floors and ceilings heights, etc.
How to set out floors in bathrooms and kitchens, conservatories, effectively, considering doorways, units, toilets, and shower trays.
